Details

Since the 19th century many European militaries used a bag to carry fresh rations. In the German Army this bag changed very little during the long period it was in use - the East German Army used this style of bag until disbanded in 1991.

This bag is a reproduction of that used by the Luftwaffe during the Second World War. Made from a heavy blue/grey cotton canvas the bag has a single partition, dividing the internal pocket into two compartments. The full length flap is held by two leather straps attaching to tin buttons. The bag can be worn on the shoulder or attached to the belt by two leather reinforced straps and buttons on the rear of the bag. Leather straps sewn to the front of the bag were designed to attach other equipment.
