These rank badges are excellent reproductions of those used by the Australian Imperial Force during the First World War. Australia continued to use rank badges that had been replaced by Britain and most other Commonwealth countries prior to the wars beginning. Despite this however, many of the badges remained the same and most of these would be suitable for other Commonwealth armies.
In the Australian Imperial Force badges of rank, during both the First and Second World Wars, were worn on the right arm only. Although towards the latter years of the Second World War smaller rank badges were adopted, this size continued to be used throughout the war.
Rank chevrons are made of service lace sewn to a khaki wool backing. Other badges are embroidered in cotton on a khaki wool backing. Rank badges are sold singly (not as pairs).
