Bomb (Red Flames).
The trained bomber's badge was awarded to those men who had completed a bomber's course and passed the final examination. Within the Australian 1st Division the course was required to be run at a battalion or higher level for a man to be considered a trained bomber, this would vary between units.

Trained bombers were employed within battalions as instructors for other men in bombing. In the attack, they were generally grouped into specialised bombing sections which would be used as mopping up parties.
These badges have been copied from an original and are made of thread embroidered to a khaki wool backing.
