Introduced shortly after the Boer War, despite being made obsolete by the Webbing Equipment, Pattern 1908, the Bandoleer Equipment 1903 was used until the end of the Second World War. This bandoleer was introduced in 1903 and was used by all services until the adoption of the mounted pattern. It continued to be worn by dismounted services and was used extensively by lines of commuication troops during both the First and Second World Wars.
