Introduced in 1932, the Type 92 helmet was a dome shaped helmet with a short protruding rim. Made of an inferior chrome-molybdenum steel many of these helmets proved to be extremely fragile and were susceptable to shrapnel and small arms fire.

The liner was similiar to that utilised in German First World War helmets having three leather covered pockets which could be filled to adjust size. A cord passing through six tongues at the top of these pockets allowed adjustment for height.

The helmet was secured to the head by an an elaborate system of straps based upon older 'Samurai' helmets.

Painted a mustard khaki color a star (Imperial Army) or anchor (Imperial Navy) was affixed to the front of the helmet to identify either service. Later, these were painted in yellow.

These high quality reproductions are extremely close copies of the original helmets.
