Both mounted and dismounted holsters were introduced for the newly adopted Colt 1911 pistol in 1912. The dismounted holster, of which this is a high quality reproduction, was used throughout the service life of the Colt 1911 pistol. Until 1952 it was made in tan leather, and after this date in black.

These holsters are high quality reproductions in tan leather. They are embossed with the 'US' marking on the flap of the holster. Both the brass hook for the belt and leather thong are included. Reproduction manufacturers marks have been stamped into the leather.
