The No.4 Mk.I rifle was approved for service on 15th November 1939. A development of the No.1 Mk.VI of 1929 and the No.4 trials rifles of the 1930s, the No.4 Mk.I had a stonger action and was easier to manufacture than its service predecessor the No.1 Mk.III rifle.

These rifles were part of a shipment we received recently. While the barrels and metalwork were in excellent condition, the woodwork was badly damaged. This has been replaced with unissued original walnut woodwork in excellent condition making an attractive rifle perfect for shooting. The bolts are mismatched, however all have been headspaced to the rifles. The two-groove barrels are in excellent condition, as is the blueing and metalwork.
