The Madsen Model 1947 rifle, also known as the 'Lightweight Military Rifle', was designed and manufactured by Dansk Industrie Sindikat "Madsen" A.S.. Designed for third world countries, whose armies did not have the funds necessary to maintain the assault style rifles then being adopted, it was advertised in Madsen catalogs as 'suitable for soldiers of comparatively small stature'. In 1958 the Colombian Navy ordered these rifles .30-06 calibre, however, these did not remain in service long, and the majority were soon sold as surplus. Total production is estimated at around 5000-6000 rifles.
This bayonet does not appear to have been used and is in excellent condition. The polished blade and blued handle have minor marks only. The scabbard is also in very good condition. An extremely rare bayonet in excellent condition.
