Adopted during the Second World War webbing anklets were intended to replace the earlier short puttees and wool versions, although both these types were used until wars end. Unpopular with soldiers these anklets were difficult to fit properly and tended to slide up the leg when worn.

These anklets were made by various Australian companies after the Second World War. Held in store for many years they are in unissued conditon. They are sold in pairs.
