Introduced in 1938, the haversack, as with WE08, was intended to be worn at the left side when in marching order, and on the back when in battle order. The haversack was significantly larger than the WE08 design, being 1 inch taller and 2 1/4 inch deeper than the earlier design. The haversack was divided into sections internally, these sections being intended for the new aluminium water bottle and rectangular mess tins.
These haversacks are made by various British manufacturers. Held in store for many years they are in unissued condition.
