Austria first adopted an US M1 style helmet in 1957. The first helmets were a close copy of the original helmet. The helmet liner was identical except for the webbing which was made of a grey webbing and the liner chinstrap which was black leather. In 1975 the liner was changed to a European style with leather tongues. Interestingly, the later version was known as the Stahlhelm 1, the earlier as the Stahlhelm 2.

These helmets are the later M75 version. They have seen heavy use and the shells are dented in numerous places. The helmet nets are torn in places. The liners are in very good condition.
