Introduced in 1945 the Mk.V differed from the Mk.IV helmet in having the liner attached by a "lift the dot" press stud. The liner could therefore be removed easily while the shell remained watertight, allowing the shell to be used as a wash basin. It retained the same shell as the earlier helmet and both helmets were referred to as the "turtle shell" helmet.

These helmets appear to have been stored after being refurbished. The helmets have a rough textured khaki green painted finish and oilcloth liner. The helmets are in very good condition.
