Windlass Steelcrafts Regimental Kukri is issued to the majority of Indian Army Gurkha regiments. Made of a tempered 1095 high carbon steel, the blade can be sharpened to a very fine edge. It features the traditional religous notch and is fullered. The handle is made of a traditional native hardwood and is held to the tang by two large steel rivets. The traditional wood scabbard is covered with leather and comes complete with frog. Two companion knives are also included and are housed in seperate compartments at the rear of the scabbard.

Windlass Steelcraft's relationship with the British Ministry of Defence first began in 1943 when their first facilities were opened to manufacture kukri knives for the British army. This relationship continues to this day and Windlass are now the only approved manufacturer of kukris for the British and Indian military.

Windlass are an approved manufacturer of edged weapons for various military branches and schools worldwide. Their ISO certified factory is regularly inspected by independent authorities. State-of-the-art processes, the finest materials and skilled craftsmen ensure that every sword is manufactured to exacting government specifications. Windlass has been approved by the both the US Department of Defense and British Ministry of Defence for the supply of swords and they are the official contractor for the supply of swords to the US Marines.
