This type of helmet is an excellent example of the evolution of the knightly helmet. It is one of the first attempts to protect the face with more than just a nasal extension or a mail coif with a face flap. This helm continued on to become the complete head protection of the barrel helm.

Windlass Steelcrafts has been manufacturing high quality weapons and handicrafts since its inception in 1943. Its founder, Mr. V. P. Windlass set up a manufacturing plant to supply British Gurkha regiments with Kukris, their famous sidearm.
