The 13th C. was a tumultuous one, filled with wars and battles of great importance. One of the most important was the Battle of Liegnitz in 1241. Prince Henry the Pious of Silesia moved to join with King Wenceslas of Hungary to oppose the Mongols under Kaidu. Whenever the knights could come to blows with the Mongols the heavy swords destroyed the Mongol armor with ease. But, the Mongols were wily and sage warriors, and stayed out of range, using the classical tactics of the horse archer. This sword is of a style favoured by many of the Northern European knights. The long, broad blade is ideal for one handed slashing from horseback. This type of sword delivers a terrible, shearing blow that lightweight armor cannot withstand. Made of high carbon steel. Wooden grip covered with leather. Guard and distinctive pommel are of steel. Comes complete with leather scabbard.
