Hanwei Practical Swords
CAS Hanwei's practical (blunt) swords are based upon the most popular authentically styled swords within the Hanwei collection but are tailored to meet the demands of re-enactment and stage combat. These swords are specifically designed to withstand rugged use while meeting the safety requirements of many of todays re-enactment societies. The blades are crafted from 1065 high carbon steel, hardened to 50 HRC, which resists edge-notching while providing resilience without being brittle. The blades are fullered to provide balance and have 1/16" wide edges and rounded tips for safety. The tangs are substantial, with radiused corners at the blade shoulders and no welds, the end of the tang being peened over the pommel. The hardwood grips are leather covered and the scabbards are fabricated of glass filled resin, providing exceptional impact resistance, eliminating swelling and warping, and minimising blade corrosion.
