Approximately 34,400 M1894 bayonets were made under German occupation during 1943–44. Following the Second World War, Norway converted 30,000 of these bayonets for use with the Selvladekarabin (US M1 Carbine). These bayonets were modified in 1956 at Hærens Våpentekniske Korps (Army Weapons Technical Corps). The USA provided 98,267 M1 and M2 Carbines to Norway between 1950 and 1963 under the Military Assistance Program.
