Since the adoption of the Magazine short Rifle in 1904, the butts of Lee Enfield rifles held a oil Bottle and a Pull Through. During WWII, as a war time expedient, the oil bottles were changed from brass to bakelite. These oil bottles remained in service through to the 1970s.
