Robinson considered this the "typical mid-first century legionary helmet" (although the Coolus was probably more common) and it seems to have continued in use on into the early second century AD. The best example was found in the Rhine River at Mainz-Weisenau and is now exhibited in Worms, Germany. Helmets of this style can definitely be dated to the Boudican revolt of AD 61 based on fragments found in rubbish pits at Colchester (now reassembled and displayed at the Colchester Castle Museum). The carrying handle seen on the Weisenau original (and Deepeeka's reproduction) may date it slightly later, as none were present with the Colchester fragments. The brass rosettes on this resemble those found on the Corbridge type lorica segmentata. Therefore these two pieces of equipment are often portrayed together in modern reconstructions.

Having sought the guidance of highly respected armourers, re-enactors and historians from around the world, Deepeeka's range of Greek and Roman arms and armour is recognised as being amongst the most authentic of all economical manufacturers. Dan Petersen (author of "The Roman Legions Recreated in Color Photographs" and founder of the re-enactment group Legio XIV Germinia Martia Victrix) has been particularly influential in the development of the Roman range.
