USSR Ishevsk TT-33 7.62x25mm Pistol (AUX11030)

Availability: In stock

Quick Overview

Made by Ishevsk in 1944, this TT-33 is in excellent condition externally. The pistol retains the majority of its blue, and the black grips are in excellent condition. There are minor marks only to the finish of the pistol. The pistol has seen use, and the barrel shows a little wear and some light pitting. The pistol has US import marks on the left hand side of the frame (and, has been incorrectly marked as Tula manufacture).

In 1930, the Revolutionary Military Council approved a resolution to test new small arms to replace its ageing Nagant M1895 revolvers. During these tests, on 7 January 1931, the potential of a pistol designed by Fedor Tokarev was noted, and a few weeks later, 1,000 TT-30s were ordered for troop trials. The pistol was sson adopted for service in the Red Army. The TT-30 was manufactured between 1930 and 1936, with about 93,000 being produced.

Even as the TT-30 was being put into production, design changes were made to simplify manufacturing. Minor changes to the barrel, disconnector, trigger and frame were adopte. More notable changes included the omission of the removable hammer assembly and changes to the full-circumference locking lugs. The redesigned pistol was designated the TT-33. Widely used by Soviet troops during World War II, the TT-33, however, did not completely replace the Nagant revolver. It continued to be used following the war, until the adoption of the Makarov pistol in 1952.
