The pilotka (from pilot), so called as the cap formed part of the pilot's uniform during the First World War, was the most common cap used during the Second World War and continued to be used by the USSR Army into the 1980s. It is still used by the Russian Air Force and Navy. While it remains in service with the Army, it has been almost entirely replaced by the beret and kepi.

These original caps were made in the late 1980s and have never been issued.
