Details

Known as a 'beskozirka' ('cap without visor'), this cap was worn by USSR sailors below the rank of Petty-Officer 2nd Class and by cadets at Naval schools. Worn by the Russian Navy from at least the early 1800s, it was immediately adopted by the Red Navy following the revolution and remains in service to this day.

Other than the absence of the visor, the beskozirka was structurally identical in all respects to the officer's peaked cap. It differed visibly only in the badge worn and the use of an embossed ribbon (tally band) instead of the plain ribbon worn on peaked caps.

These caps were made in the late 1980s and have not been used. The tally band translates 'HIGHEST MILITARY ENGINEERING SCHOOL'.
