Details
Issued with most British military rifles the pull through, with flannelette and oil, comprised the cleaning kit for the rifle. With Lee Enfield rifles the pull through was rolled, and with the oil bottle, placed in the butt of the rifle.
To use, the weight of the pull through was dropped through the barrel, a piece of flannelette placed in the loop of the pull through and then pulled through the barrel. When the barrel had just been fired and was still warm, the pull through was able to remove most fouling. Boiling water would be used when fouling proved more difficult to remove.
These pull throughs are original Australian Second World War manufacture. The weights are copper. They are in unissued condition.
