This reproduction sword has a full steel basket, which has been darkened and sports a high carbon steel blade. The wooden handle is covered with ray skin for a solid grip, then wired wrapped. Comes with matching scabbard.

The mortuary sword has very close ties to the English basket hilt and is sometimes referred to as the English half-basket. This type was extensively used by both Royalist and Parliamentarian cavalry. One of the finest examples of this type of sword is one believed to have been owned by Oliver Cromwell – General of the Parliamentarian forces – which now resides in the Royal Armouries, London. This reproduction sword has a full steel basket, which has been darkened and sports a high carbon steel blade. The wooden handle is covered with ray skin for a solid grip, then wired wrapped. Comes with matching scabbard.
