At the outbreak of the First World War a khaki wool hat band was adopted by the Australian Imperial Force and was worn throughout the war.

Although puggarees had been re-introduced prior to the outbreak of the Second World War, the wool hat band was used by the AIF throughout the war. In the latter years of the war the puggaree was issued, however, the hat band remained in use until the end of the war.

Like originals, these reproduction hat bands are made of a khaki green wool. They are made in a single sewn length of material. The hat band has to be cut to length and sewn to suit the size of your hat.
