Details
In 1478, when the trade centers in the Balkans of the Italian city-state Venice came under attack from the Ottoman turks, the conflict centered at the fortified town of Shkoder in Albania. The town first suffered a heavy bombardment from the Turkish cannons. The turks twice launched assaults against the badly battered walls, but both times the Venetians beat them back. Finally the Turks admitted defeat and withdrew. After the battles, less than 500 men marched safely out of the town. We have named this impressive Italian sword for the Venetians that fought that equally impressive siege. The highly worked steel parts and the twisted wire-over-wood grip nicely balance the deadly fullered well-tempered high carbon steel blade.
