Details

From WWII , the Eastern block began having bayonets attached permanently to rifles. Folding back along the stock for storage. This started with the USSR model 44 Nagant, and this continued with the Siminov (SKS) rifle. The Siminov rifle production started in the USSR in 1945. Early production had a blade bayonet, but after 1949, these blades were replaced with a spike bayonet.

The Chinese adopted the pattern in 1956 (Type 56) with Soviet co-operation. The first production being made with the soviet blade style bayonet but finally replaced with the spike bayonet.
