As the Pattern 1908 equipment made for WWI began to finally disappear from stores, and new webbing equipment Pattern needed to be approved. This would be a more economical version of the P'08, and after looking at the patterns that had been approved after 1918, in 1937 new equipment was approved for general use, this would be known as the Pattern 1937 equipment.

Like the P'08 webbing this was a modular design and allowed some of the older equipment to be utilized with it.
