These reproduction breech covers are a close copy of those used during both the First and Second World Wars. They are made of a heavy canvas with brass straps and leather thong.
Details
Breech covers were introduced during the First World War to keep mud and dust from the action of the rifle. The cover completely encloses the action and is held by three brass press studs. A leather thong on the cover attaches to the wire loop in front of the magazine on the rifle, holding the cover when it is not being used.
