This Mk.II rifle was one of the batch of rifles sold by The Irish Govt. out of war stores, around 20 years ago. They were sold New, still in the factory wrapper.

This rifle has been taken out of the wrapper, and shows no use.

The serial numbers on the bolt, Action, Magazine and forend are matching. The woodwork may have some very minor marks

The barrel shows no ware and the stock length is "Normal".

An excellent collector or shooter.

These rifles came standard with the Singer Mk1 rear sight.

Details

The Mk.!! configuration of the No.4 rifle was adopted in 1949. The major difference is that the trigger, instead of being mounted to the trigger guard, was mounted on the front of the butt socket.

Besides the markings, the only external difference is the bolt through the rear of the forend instead of the steel band on previous models.

Many of the No.4 Mk.I and the Mk.I* rifles were converted to the new model to either Mk.I/2 or Mk.I/3.

The No.4 Mk.II rifle was in production till 1956, and was replaced with the L1A1 rifle.
