Details

The Spyderco Assist was designed for emergency service personnel who rely on their knives to function flawlessly under pressure. The Assist showcases the latest developments in this knife style.

The VG-10 patented blunt-tipped blade has serrations for eighty-percent of its length and cuta seatbelts and fibrous material with ease. The last 25mm of the tip has a plain edge for finer cutting. Above the thumb hole, the Cobra Hood positions the thumb directly over the hole for quick blade deployment, and doubles as a leveraging platform for the thumb. The wavy pattern cut into the top of the blade (created by a fireman from Sweden) and along the inside of the handle let you place a piece of rope (between the half-open blade and handle) and scissor the blade shut. This allows the knife to cut rope in-and-around flesh without having to fully open or expose the knife's blade. The FRN handle is moulded, and bi-directional textured that ergonomically fits the hand. In the closed position when the blade is squeezed into the handle a retractable carbide tip protrudes out from the base for breaking glass. Outlined in safety orange on the handle's spine is a shrill and attention-pitched whistle. Carries left or right handed, tip-up by means of a tension wire clip.
