British No.32 Mk.I/2 Prototype Scope (179)

The first 1000 No.32 scopes were made by Vickers U.I.Co. and were numbered from 1 to 999. These were coincided prototypes. The serial number of this scope is 179.
Originally made as a MK.I scope, during WWII it has been upgraded to a Mk.II scope. The markings on the scope have been changed along with the part number.
This scope is complete with an original WWII bracket marked N92 which is the war time code for Dalglish and son. The rings are numbered and matching.
The scope box is an original No.8 Mk.I box and also comes with an original adjustment tool, although one of the spines has been broken.
The eye piece and objective lenses look to be in good condition and the cross hair looks to be intact. It appears on exaimination that one of the lenes in the erector lens assembly has shattered so I have included a very good condition erector assembly with this scope.
Details
There was a desperate shortage of sniper's rifles at the outbreak of the Second World War. Development of a No.4 sniper's rifle was undertaken in 1940 with trials rifles, before production of the No.4 rifle had begun. The rifle was fitted with the No.32 scope, originally designed for use with the Bren LMG, a removeable mount being used due to the weight of the scope. Officially adopted in 1942, the No.4 sniper's rifle had already been in use for some time.
